Vehicle Fire with damage to garage and adjacent vehicle tent in the 2800 block of Panorama Pl. in the San Roque Area of Santa Barbara.

This was originally reported as the 2800 block of Puesta del Sol, but was updated to the same block on Panorama Place.

At 11:46 a.m. Mondauy, a Mercedes Benz S Class ignited inside the garage of a single family residence. One neighbor saw the fire from her kitchen window and others became aware when they heard an explosion.

A tree was partially scorched in front of the home. A 32 gallon gray plastic bin that was all the way on the street partially melted with yard waste inside.

The neighbor from across the street stated that the area was so hot he moved his car from in front of his house to prevent heat damage.

The fire appeared to be at least 50 ft high at its peak. SBPD officers were the first ones on scene. Nine trucks soon arrived from the city of Santa Barbara Fire Department.

The main structure was saved. The car in the garage appeared to be a total loss. A second vehicle that was under a tent was also damaged yet drivable.

  1. There were not 9 engines at the fire I was there right around the corner before any arrived and stayed until they cleared a couple of them. There are only 8 stations in whole SB City one of which is clear out of the airport. I believe there were only five at the fire even with the second alarm. Some one likely doesn’t understand how the call up works as there were other engines being called up to man the stations as need be.
