Shooting at Santa Maria Halloween Party Leaves One Injured

On Saturday, October 14, 2023, at about 12:49 AM, Santa Maria Police Officers were sent to the 1300 block of Yale place regarding a shooting that had just occurred.
Officers responded and confirmed a shooting had occurred at a residence in the area. At least one victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. This victim is in serious, but stable condition.
The Detective Bureau and Crime Lab were called out to the scene to assist. The Detective Bureau has since taken over this investigation.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, so limited details are currently being released. However, it appears there was a large Halloween party occurring when the shooting occurred. Investigators believe there are numerous witnesses that still need to be interviewed related to this case.

Hope the hiker is OK! Glad to see the photo showing the STARLINK phone and wi-fi setup on the hood of the sheriff’s car. I wonder how many vehicles are set up for this possible emergency need.
