Around 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Los Padres National Forest firefighters responded to a growing brush fire along Avenales Ranch Road in San Luis Obispo County.

North of Highway 166 and near the community of Pozo, the fire has grown to 130 acres as of Thursday afternoon.

According to the Los Padres National Forest, the use of dozer containment lines have mitigated the risk for six nearby structures on private property that fall within the Los Padres protection zone.

There are approximately 160 firefighters on the scene along with air tankers and dozers.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
