Santa Barbara County Search & Rescue teams rescued an injured hiker from a Montecito Trail on Saturday morning.
Dispatch received a report of a hiker with an altered level of consciousness on the Cold Spring Ridge Trail, adjacent to the main Cold Spring Trail off of Mountain Drive.
Search & Rescue had members at the trail and responding within minutes due to an ongoing training event in the nearby area. Team members hiked in to assist with care and transport, about a half-mile up the narrow trail.
Joined by Montecito Fire Department and an AMR ambulance, crews used a wheeled litter basket to bring the patient down to the trailhead.
The hiker was then transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by a ground ambulance.

So glad we have these self-less volunteers in Santa Barbara! I hope these first responders are supported by these large local benefits too.
