This theatrical production guides us through an impassioned love story, employing the eloquence of Argentine tango and the expressiveness of physical theater. Earth and Fire Walking is a stereotype-defying love story. Two wanderers navigating between city life and nature’s embrace. Joy. Pain. Love; as pure and elemental as Earth and Fire. Written, directed, and performed by Tomas Galvan and Gimena* Herrera (*say it like: He-māy-na) with Special Guest: Camila Lima.
This tale of modern love is drawn from the inspiration of the Argentine poet and artist, Atahualpa Yupanqui*, a pivotal figure in Argentine folklore artistry. His poetry resonates with the solitude of traversing the vast expanses of Argentine terrain, encapsulating profound contemplations about life and our interconnectedness with the world. (say it: Ah-tah-WAHL-pah you-PAN-key)
Earth and Fire Walking represents not only the global landscape but also delves into the intricate landscape of the human heart, the very source from which tango’s essence springs forth. The performance unveils the journey of two individuals reveling in the essence of life with every gesture, every tune—a duo of wanderers chasing dreams, pilgrims on an unending journey. Their tango embodies the essence of both metropolitan life and the yearning for nature, mirroring the purity and elemental force of Earth and Fire.
