One person has died in a traffic collision that sparked a brush fire on Highway 166 Saturday evening.
At 6:46 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters arrived in the area of Chimeneas Ranch Road between Santa Maria and New Cuyama.
Crews discovered a single vehicle crash along with a brush fire. One person was pronounced dead on the scene and another was transportd to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by a Calstar helicopter with serious injuries.
The fire spread to 2-3 acres before the forward progress was stopped at 7:36 p.m.
This is a developing story.
