Patricia Bragg, a health food pioneer and CEO of the Bragg food company, died at age 94 in her Goleta home on Thursday afternoon, according to her company’s Instagram page.

“Patricia was a true visionary who transformed the lives of millions through her work in health & wellness education and nearly five decades as our company’s CEO,” wrote the Instagram post. “She was a mentor, a friend, and a groundbreaking woman in wellness. Her legacy lives on in our mission to help everyone live more vibrantly every day.”

Bragg Live Food Products is possibly best known for their Liquid Aminos and Apple Cider Vinegar that can be found on store shelves throughout the U.S.

Bragg was born as Patricia Pendleton in Oakland, California, on April 29, 1929. She attended the University of California, Berkeley and earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry.

In 1952 she married Robert E. Bragg, the son of well-known alternative health food advocate and fitness enthusiast Paul Bragg. Though the marriage only lasted a few years, Patricia assisted Paul with his business and later appeared on his Health & Happiness TV show, which ran from 1959 to an unknown date on Channel 9 in Los Angeles, CA. She is also attributed as a co-author of many of the later Bragg health books.

Patricia took over and ran Bragg Live Food Products, Inc. following Paul’s Death in 1976. In 2019 the company was sold to an investment group that includes local residents and celebrities Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.

  1. Patricia Bragg was one of my heroes. Her apple cider vinegar was very beneficial to my health and nothing short of magic. Athletes and celebrities like ex- Laker Coach Phil Jackson treated her like a health guru. I ran into her a few years ago on a Tuesday at Los Agaves, she mentioned she fasted every Monday, she had the energy of a cheerleader well into her 80’s and couldn’t have been nicer. R.I.P. to a legendary woman.

  2. I always looked forward to seeing Patricia at Earth Day passing out bags of Bragg products.
To this day I take their Apple Cider Vinegar in water daily; it’s my health secret.
I feel blessed and humbled to have met her.
She always had a big smile and danced like no one was watching.
Bless you Bragg family members and may her healthy legend live on!
