After a series of NBC World Series wins, the Santa Barbara Foresters lost to the Hutchinson Monarchs of Kansas on Saturday in Wichita.
The Foresters had won the past three World Series but the Monarchs edged out a 6-3 victory ending their attempt for a fourth consecutive win.
The Santa Barbara minor league team had won 20 straight games during this year’s series including 5 consecutive games to reach the final game. Although in the final game the Kansas team scored two runs in the 5th, 6th, and 7th innnings to reach an early 6-1 lead.
Forester starting pitcher Carson Turnquist and Monarch pitcher Cole Toureau both achieved four scoreless innings to start until the Kansas team scored two of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Monarchs then got out to the lead after an error and a single set up a two-RBI double.,
The Foresters didn’t score at the top of the sixth inning and set the stage for the Monarchs to add two additional runs on a pair of RBI doubles.
Santa Barbara got on the scoreboard on the top of the seventh with an RBI single by Will Rogers to run in Max Belyeu. The Monarchs, however, contined two-run innings in the seventh. The Foresters continued the scoring pace bringing in two more runs, but ultimately it was no match for the hot bats of the Monarchs.
The Foresters have won a record number 10 championships and finished in second place this season with an overall record of 35-11.

Lot of good baseball in the SB area, from high school to collegiate. Great having so many teams to watch almost year round!
