Two Injured in Isla Vista Stabbing

Update by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office
August 14, 2023

On Sunday, at approximately 12:20 am, deputies responded to a report of a stabbing in the 6600 block of Sueno Road in Isla Vista.

Deputies learned two male victims were walking on the sidewalk after a party when one bumped into an unknown male subject accompanied by another male and two females.  A heated confrontation ensued, followed by a physical altercation among the males.

During the fight, one of the unknown male subjects pulled out a knife and stabbed both victims.  One victim had two stab wounds, and the other had one.

While responding to the scene, it was believed that the suspect(s) were last seen in the 600 block of Pasado Road. County Fire and AMR responded, and both victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Deputies established a perimeter on Sueno Road and Pasado Road from Camino Pescadero to Camino Del Sur.  A K9 team responded, and a search for the suspects was conducted upon arrival. A blood trail at Camino Pescadero and Pasado Road led deputies over one hundred yards and through several backyards.

The victims did not provide details of what occurred, and both stated they did not know the suspects.  The investigation has been turned over to our Criminal Investigation Bureau.

If members of the public have any information they would like to share with the Sheriff’s Office, they are encouraged to call (805) 681-4150.

  1. So were they cut or stabbed? I guess the difference would not matter in court. When they finally catch them I would like to know the logic—if there’s any logic to this type of behavior.
Reminds me of the Ice Cube lyrics to the classic song Check Yo Self “…And no, I’m no the butler, I’ll cut ya. head-butt ya, you say you can’t touch this. And I wouldn’t touch ya, punk…” I never really payed attention to the madness in the lyrics. LoL
I.V. has a rich history of some violent incidents. I recall the fight where a young man was punched, he then fell, hit his head on the ground and died several hours later from an internal concussion / wet stroke. So Sad. I grew up in Isla Vista, what a trip man!
On a whole other different intellectual plane. And, as a DJ, the difference between a slice, a cut, and a stab are very different. Forget violence, avoid violence, stop the violence! I will have to play the “Stop the Violence” song on my show Friday. Aug. 18th at 8:08 PM on KCSB 91.9 FM in Santa Barbara.
