Circa 1890’s Colorization FROM Mission Bell Tower
A.H. Rogers photo taken from a Mission Bell Tower looking south. Note Lavanderia on the bottom right, and what appears to be the Crocker houses in the center.
Most likely a glass plate camera was used, and imagine carrying the heavy wooden tripod, wood, brass and glass camera up the stairs to take the picture!
Explains why I haven’t seen many photos taken from the towers!
Lighter Kodak “Brownie” film cameras were not introduced until 1900.
