On 09/06/23 and 09/07/23, Law Enforcement personnel from the Santa Maria Police Department Detective Bureau, the U.S Marshall’s Office, Homeland Security Investigations, the FBI’s Central Coast Crimes Against Children Task Force, State Parole and the CDCR K-9 Unit conducted a Sex Offender Registration compliance operation in the City of Santa Maria.
During the two day operation, Officers and Agents went to over twenty different locations in the city and contacted approximately thirty registrants. Searches were conducted for compliancy of parole/probation terms as well as to verify registrant’s addresses.
The majority of registrants were in compliance. One arrest was made for failing to register and several leads were developed for other violations which Detectives will follow-up on. Operations like this are conducted throughout the year with assistance from various local, state and federal agencies.
This is a collaborative effort to strengthen the safety of our community, and to ensure the court ordered registration terms are being followed.
