The UCSB Middle East Ensemble is thrilled to feature an exciting group of guest artists: Mehrdad Arabi will present solos on the Persian tombak drum and the daf, a large frame drum, while a duo of Greek dancers from Ventura will present an extended dance finale.
In addition, Bahram Osqueezadeh will lead a set of Persian music with Javid John, solo vocalist; Fidel Kilic will present a Kurdish song from Iraq/Iran; Andrea Fishman will present a Turkish song; and Hannah Griffiths will present a famous song by the Lebanese superstar singer Fayrouz.
As always, the Ensemble’s Dance Company will present a wonderful variety of dances, from Egypt, Greece, and Iran (with guest dancer Tilly Dozier), with choreographies by Alexandra King and Ginni Thomas. We are also especially excited to feature a Persian dance by guest dancers Parisa Ansari and Faith Simab, members of the UCSB Persian Student Group.
General ($10); Senior/Military/Non-UCSB students with ID ($7); UCSB students with ID and children under 12 (FREE)
