Santa Barbara Police and SWAT teams responded to a domestic disturbance turned stand-off in Santa Barbara’s Hidden Valley neighborhood on Monday.

Just after noon, police responded to the 800 block of Cambria Way in a normally quiet community near Hendry’s Beach for a report of a possible domestic violence situation.

According to scanner traffic, the male suspect reportedly barricaded himself in a residence and refused communication attempts with crisis negotiators.

“Police activity in the area of 800 Cambria Way. Please avoid this area until this incident has been resolved. There is no threat to the public at this time and this is an isolated incident,” the Santa Barbara Police Department posted on Twitter.

One person was arrested around 2:30 p.m. and the situation was deemed “resolved,” although the Police Department has yet to release the suspect name.

This is a developing story.

A domestic call on the 800 block of Cambria way near Veronica Springs brings out full response including SWAT.

Male subject apparently got into some kind of domestic situation. He apparently has 3 dogs, Animal Control was also on the scene. A K-9 unit and a robot also arrived on the scene. Plus, 2 ambulances on standby nearby. The subject who is believed to be in his sixties apparently owns a shot gun. Per the scanner, it appears they did make phone contact with the subject and he sounded intoxicated, was cursing and kept hanging up.

The neighbors were told to either shelter in place or evacuate. Some had to remain due to age and other conditions.  This is still a developing story.
