We frequently eat breakfast at Garrett’s , Cajun, summerland, and sometimes even drive to black bear in Ventura as they have a great steak and eggs. Anyone else have any great suggestions for a good breakfast in town?

Our go-tos are Jeannines, Cajun Kitchen, Mesa Cafe, and the Boathouse on special occasion.
I do really miss Tupelo Junction Cafe.
For an everyday good/solid breakfast for regular folk without the attitude or snobby hoity-toity:
– Domingo’s (Old Town Goleta)
– Mulligan’s (SB Golf Club off of Las Positas)
– Live Oak Cafe (at the Best Western nearly across the street from Cottage Hospital on Bath St.)
– St. Francis Hospital Cafeteria …..ohhhhhh nooooo….not there any more!!!
I miss the OG Esau’s on lower State. But if you wanna drive a bit, or take the Surfliner to make it an outing, check them out in Carp. Great vibe, same awesome local owners and food, and totally keeping it real. Even have some of the same original artwork and retro posters from the old State St. location.
Nice to get away from the SB pretentiousness (sorry, that’s you average Jeanine’s customer) once in a while.

he moved to Chapala, for about 5 years and was squeezed out of there too.
Man, but I had a really good Jeannine’s breakfast several years ago (don’t go out much). Huevos Rancheros maybe? Whatever it was so good…

Little Heart Cafecito has a yummy breakfast menu!
In addition to the places listed, I like Litos and Judge For Yourself
I’m a fan of Judge for Yourself, especially early on a weekday morning.
Been going to Sunshine Cafe, on State, recently. Good food, lots of choices.
Crushcakes, downtown, is good too.
Cody’s, similar to Mesa Cafe, is good and have large booths, outside dining as well.
Domingo’s in Old Town Goleta – Good Selection – Good Food – Good people
Domingo’s sounds good, been meaning to check that one out. If I’m not wrong he used to run the place in the former Orchid bowl (?) that was where zodos/bowlers is currently.
You are correct about Orchid Bowl, in fact the menu still has some of the old throwback specials – like a #10 – Waffle, eggs with bacon or sausage. I used to occasionally get a plate with the old Orchid Bowl icon.

Live Oak Cafe, Sunshine Cafe, and Crush Cake are my favorite.
For delicious, traditional local breakfast, Esau’s, home smoked salmon eggs Benedict with avocado; Delgado’s only on Sundays but very good and core South Coast vibe; splurge, El Encanto Brunch.
Garrett’s is the best. So ‘old school’. Staff is so friendly. It’s a great way to start the day on a positive note.
If you like old school, try Judge for Yourself, too.

We used to go to Garrett’s often and always enjoyed the basic food and friendly service. Montecito Coffee Shop in the Upper Village is a regular go-to. Love D’Angelo, but my all-time favorite place for breakfast is TRE LUNE on Coast Village Road in Montecito. Who knew that an Italian restaurant would serve breakfast, and spectacularly at that?! Unique menu offerings, cosy and classy setting, and exceptional service.
Rose Café and The Breakwater Restaurant are family favorites for us. Scarlett Begonia is great too.

It’s way the hell out, but Homeplate out Calle Real past Storke Road if you live that direction.
2nd for Homeplate. Some really good breakfast options! For breakfast burritos either Homeplate or Cristino’s Bakery!
SacJon: Cristino’s…..oh yeahhhhhh!!! On my last day on earth I would like to have one of their Almond Croissant’s w/powerdered sugar, which is certainly enough for two people, but since it’s my last day….two of them custard cups. Helloooooo St. Peter!
BABY – those custard cups are insane! My favorite there is the birria on the weekends though. Best I’ve ever had and they don’t skimp on the meat juice like other places. They send you off with a pint of beefy, flavorful, juice to drown your meat and fried cheese in. So good.
Crabcakes at Hendry’s !!!
Surprised Scarlet Begonia wasn’t mentioned until late in the comments.. that’s the top choice for me.

It is across from the old Anderson’s Pea Soup site on the Avenue of Flags.
Excellent food and value with very good coffee – Joe’s – gem of a breakfast place at prices lower than others.
