Reports of a man with a gun at the 4000 block of State Street turn out to be a false report.
2:55 PM Friday, 6/30/23 – Dispatch receives a report of man with a history of priors acting strange and possibly armed.
More than 6 Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene. No gun was found and the issue was resolved in about 10 minutes.
He was very nice to the officers, and stated “You guys are only doing your job. If someone had a gun, You had to go check it out.”
Reports like this are a sign of the times. The issue shouldn’t be a man “with a gun,” if he wasn’t being aggressive with it.
When I grew up in this area in the ’40s and ’50s someone “having” a gun was no big deal if he wasn’t threatening anyone with it. Now just a sighting of a gun calls out the SWAT team. I’m not sure this is progress.
Did you know Father Serra?
@8:16am, because CA is not open carry. It’s called laws.
I’m wondering who called it in. Someone called 911 and reported a man with priors and a gun. So it was someone who knew the man had priors and who likely knew that a report of simply “acting strange” would get no response. So, lets throw in “possibly armed” and make sure the cops show up. Someone came very close to filing a false report but was clever enough to avoid doing so
My guess is it was the ex wife or girlfriend called on Father Juniper
