(GOLETA, CA, May 30, 2017) – The City of Goleta continues to be recognized as one of the safest cities in California, receiving its sixth award in five years. LendEDU, a financial products company specializing in student loans, knows that the safety of a city is a determining factor of where to live. Goleta once again garners national attention for its safety, and is one of only two cities in Santa Barbara County to make the list; Nipomo being the other.
“The City of Goleta has always, and will continue to, make public safety a top priority,” said Mayor Paula Perotte. “I am proud to be mayor of a city that places such a high importance on safety and has a dedicated group of men and women protecting us. I also believe the collaboration between residents and law enforcement helps make Goleta the safe city that it is.”
The top 100 safest cities in each state were ranked based on their total crime risk score and on the difference between their score and the national average total crime risk score of 100. Onboard Informatics provided the total crime risk score, which is a stand-alone statistic indicating the combined risk of rape, murder, burglary, assault, robbery, larceny, and vehicle theft compared to the national average of 100.
