The Santa Barbara County Clerk-Recorder, Assessor announced today that secured property tax value notices for 2017 are available on the County Clerk-Recorder & Assessor website at www.sbcassessor.com. Notices are posted for 130,948 parcels in the County. The Tax Collector Tax will mail tax bills in the fall.
“This method of providing value notices online is a convenient service to all taxpayers in Santa Barbara County while reducing costs,” said Joe Holland, County Clerk-Recorder, Assessor. “We will now be able to display value notices for all property in the county.”
Property factored base year values will be increased by the California Consumer Price Index of 1.2 percent, as mandated by the Revenue and Taxation Code. The total gross taxable value of more than $75 billion for the January 1, 2017 lien date is an increase of 5.68 percent. The property tax base is a large funding source for schools, public safety, cities and the County.
Property owners who believe that their property is not properly valued are encouraged to contact the Assessor’s Office and request an informal review by September 1, 2017. The deadline for filing a formal assessment appeal for the 2017-18 assessment roll is November 30, 2017.
