Yesterday, Tom Totton and Bruce Murdock of the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit (SBAU), plus family, friends, and passers-by, were on East Camino Cielo above the clouds to view and photograph the solar eclipse. All told (over time), there were more than 50-people cumulatively at our location. A core group of about 20 stayed for the entire eclipse duration.
Tom Totton had multiple scopes set up with hydrogen alpha filters, which only pass a narrow band of red light emitted by solar prominences. Bruce Murdock had two Celestron 8″ telescopes set up with ND5 filters, one for viewing, the other for photography. ND5 filters only allow 1/100,000 of the light through.
