Our non-profit of the week is the Santa Barbara Transgender Advocacy Network (SB TAN). SBTAN was just one of many groups at this years annual Pride Festival at Chase Palm Park. SBTAN provides a space for transgender individuals, friends, families, and allies to congregate as well as hosts monthly meetings and meet ups.
Services offered range from psychological to academic and the group even provides training to medical professionals. Resources include:
- Health care
- Training for clinicians
- Faith/Religion institutions
- Directory of SBTAN trained mental health professionals
- Information on laws and policies that impact trans youth
Additionally, The Santa Barbara Transgender Center (Lisa’s Place), is an extension of the SBTAN youth and famiy program, and welcomes people of all ages and expressions to meet up and hang out. We are thankful and proud to have this resource in our community available to help folks of all walks of life feel loved and welcome. You can read more about SBTAN here.
