At 2213 Hrs. an Officer patrolling in the 800 Blk. of S. Pine was flagged down by community members and shown a male juvenile on the sidewalk who had just been shot. The suspect(s) had fled prior to the officers arrival in the area in a small sedan. AMR and the Santa Maria Fire Department responded to provide aid to the the victim of the assault.
The young man was transported to a local hospital in serious condition. Detectives have been assigned to the case and are in the early stages of the investigation.
