Jeanne Graffy Memorial on Thursday

Former Santa Barbara city councilmember and county supervisor Jeanne Graffy passed away last month with a public memorial to be held on Thursday.

Graffy passed in her home on September 13 after several weeks of failing health, she was 91. Her daughter, Erin Graffy, confirmed the memorial will be held at Old Mission Santa Barbara on October 19 at 2:00 p.m. with a reception to follow.

Jeanne Graffy served as a City Council member in 1979 with two reelection wins, served on the Santa Barbara City Planning Commission for eight years, served two terms as mayor pro tempore, and served one term as a 2nd District County Supervisor in 1994. While serving as a supervisor she helped found the Friends of Arroyo Burro which addressed creek and ocean pollution. She was also a prior recipient of the Santa Barbara Foundation’s Woman of the Year award.

In the early 2000s, Graffy served as the government affairs director for the Santa Barbara Association of Realtors.

She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Graffy, last December at age 92. She is survived by her children, Kurt, Neal, Erin, Colleen, Kerry, their spouses, and grandchildren.
