A brush fire off Cat Canyon road is nearly contained after burning 10 acres on Tuesday afternoon.
At 12:09 p.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to a reported vegetation fire with a lot of smoke near Palmer and Cat Canyon Roads north of Los Alamos. Upon arrival crews found 10 acres of light grass burning from a wind-driven fire, said Public Information Officer Mike Eliason.
Named the Lease Fire, crews were able to gain a hold of the fire thanks to service roads surrounding the perimeter of the blaze. A section of the fire did jump one road but that was quickly put out, said Eliason.
At 2:00 p.m. the fire was approximately 80% contained with full containment expected shortly.
There were no reported injuries or structures threatened.
