Goleta saw the Grand Opening of the new Residence Inn by Marriott at 6350 Hollister Ave, across from the Santa Barbara Airport, on Thursday.
The hotel threw an opening party filled with beverages provided by M. Special and Captain Fatty’s, live music from The Replicas out of North Hollywood, plus a tribute and historical art display dedicated to the local Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians.
The expansive lobby of the new hotel contained a floor mural painted by Carolyn Kelly. Her inspiration came from Chumash florals which tie in Goleta’s long history. The designated dining area continues with tributes to the Chumash tribe with replicas of Native American basketry artwork, a portrait of Luisa Ignacio by Holli Harmon, and an installation of canoe oars by Ink & Wood Design & Build.
The outdoor space consists of a pool and spa, two outdoor grills, a couple of fire pits, a small putting green, a semi life-sized chess board, and a 24-hour gym available for guests.
The hotel consists of 118 rooms, all designed studio style with one and two-bedrooms complete with full kitchens. The only difference being the two-bedroom has a full oven. Approximately 15-20 rooms are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Residence Inn Marriott joins the ranks of the now 12 hotels available in Goleta, with the Hilton Garden Inn on Storke Ave opening earlier this year.
