State Route 166 East at Suey Creek Road will be closed intermittently in both directions on Wednesday, Dec. 20 from 8:30 am until 4 pm to allow Caltrans to perform a rock scaling operation for public safety.
These intermittent full closures will last approximately 30 minutes to clear rocks and debris from the highway during this project. Motorists are advised to allow for additional time for any trips planned through this area.
Electronic message boards will be activated informing motorists to be prepared to stop as they approach this work zone. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) will be present to ensure the safety of everyone.
This removal of rocks above the highway will be performed by Caltrans Engineers with the assistance of the Santa Maria Maintenance team.
Caltrans reminds motorists to move over and slow down when driving through highway construction zones.
