The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced [Wednesday] that the federal disaster assistance declaration made available to the state of California to supplement state, tribal, and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by wildfires from December 4, 2017 and continuing has been amended.
The declaration now includes damage from Flooding, Mudflows, and Debris flows directly related to the Wildfires, which may be eligible under the current declaration. Federal funding is available to state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by wildfires in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.
Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
William Roche continues to serve as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Roche said additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments.
