Narrative:

A man arrested last week in the Ojai Valley is awaiting extradition by the US Marshal’s Office for one count of murder and one count of attempted murder in the state of Colorado. Greg Boren was arrested in Meiners Oaks January 16, 2018 for narcotics violations and was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura. He had no identification at the time, and he gave the arresting deputy the name of Kyle Smith. When his fingerprints were compared to the Department of Justice database, his true identity of Greg Boren was revealed, coupled with the fact that he was wanted on two counts of attempted murder in Colorado.

Investigators have since learned one of Boren’s victims has died of his injuries, thus changing one of the charges to murder. Boren’s local narcotics charges have been dropped by the District Attorney’s Office, clearing the way for his extradition to Colorado. Boren’s arrest stemmed from a traffic stop that took place when Deputy’s arrest leads to apprehension of a subject wanted by the US Marshal’s Office for two counts of attempted murder in Colorado.

Deputy Kathryn Torres was on routine patrol when sheand observed a vehicle with expired registration tags. Deputy Torres conducted a vehicle stop and contacted two male occupants. After a short encounter, Torres arrested both men for drug related offenses. The driver, Smith, did not have any identification in his possession, but provided the name of Kyle Smith. When Kyle was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility his prints and photo were collected. Due to his lack of identification he was not eligible for a release on his own recognizance until his prints confirmed his identity.

The prints returned indicating his true identify as Greg Boren from Greeley, Colorado. Boren was wanted by the US Marshals office for two counts of attempted murder. His case had been featured on “America’s Most Wanted Fans” in 2013. America’s Most Wanted Fans is an unofficial fan page for America’s Most Wanted and the Hunt with John Walsh.
