Sheriff’s Office Releases Identity of Female Decedent Found on Beach in Carpinteria
The female decedent who was located yesterday morning, March 27, 2018, on the beach near the Seal Rookery in Carpinteria has been identified as being 37-year-old Anita Rebecca Ruiz of Santa Barbara. Next of kin has been notified.
Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death. The investigation reveals that Ruiz died as a result of injuries she sustained from a cliff fall. No foul play is suspected. An official cause and manner of death is pending toxicology and lab results.
Ruiz was visiting family in Carpinteria and was last seen on Monday evening, March 26, 2018. Anyone with information that would assist investigators, is asked to please contact the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office at 805-681-4145.

Body of Female Decedent Discovered on Beach in Carpinteria
At approximately 10:15 a.m. this morning, March 27, 2018, a passerby reported seeing a body on the beach east of the Seal Rookery in the City of Carpinteria. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and discovered an adult female decedent. The Sheriff’s Coroner’s Office has positively identified the decedent and her identity will be released once next of kin has been notified. Sheriff’s detectives are conducting a death investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.

An edhat reader reports seeing law enforcement east of the Seal Rookery that was taped off from the public before noon.
KEYT News reports a passerby discovered the body of a woman and called authorities. Her identity has yet to be released.
