Scanner Reports 4-11-18

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Listening to the scanner on a Hot Day, lots of calls while listening to so many calls they kind of all get mixed up together. I heard a mention of a school in the county and thought there to be a suspicious person, but whatever it was, it wasn’t a serious call or so it did not sound so. A couple moments later I heard the County dispatcher say: “There are numerous threats toward schools in the country today.” I Googled that and sure enough, since the Shootings at the high school in Parkland, Florida there have been numerous threats everyday toward schools in America. When I was a kid, men were men, they were not PUNKS who cried because someone took away their baby bottles aka Assault rifles. Nowadays men are not men they are Cry Babies, kids are being forced to grow up and be adults. I had it rough as a kid being bullied but kids now a days have it worse being bullied then having to experience the threat of being killed over stupid horse shit. I was sooooo mad when I heard the county dispatcher say what she did about the threats toward schools. I yelled for a good 20 minutes and told off some right-wing family members on FaceBook. It was a hot day, the kind where tempers flare and people have heat-related problems might be that way the rest of the week too. I have to keep the old temper in check, drink lots of water etc.

Tuesday morning there was some type of 415 in front of my house, car with its headlights on in the driveway almost 2 am shook me out of a deep sleep, a girl screaming like she was being attacked. I listened for a few minutes then called police still not sure what it was but sounded like a 5150 Outburst, a woman with the girl apologized to me. I said “Oh that’s all right happens all the time around here.” The police said Everything was fine so I went back to bed had to break an atavin in half to help me go back to sleep woke up groggy…. then it got hot. It’s at least 10 degrees hotter in my cell aka studio. The older I get the luckier I think I was as a kid, some of it I was allowed to be a kid, when Men were real Men and not whining mice. My Dad was abusive but he had a brain dysfunction that killed him when he was 42. Chuck lived across the alley and his father was Big Chuck the Father knows best of the neighborhood. Mark lived down the street and his Dad was a Hammond Police Detective, Kathy lived a couple streets over her father was a senator, the men in my neighborhood were men who watched out for the interests of their families and other families including the neighborhood children. No one was molested by these real men as far as I know, most of the kids grew up to be like Big Chuck..Little Chuck is an engineer, Kathy is a judge, Mark is an antique dealer, I’m a nut case , a good nut case. I got my AARP Monthy reader and there was a short interview in there with Denny McClain Boy! That took me back he was one of my favorite players of the game pitcher for the Tigers won 31 games in 1968…… 10 years old 1968 that was a good time for me I got to be a kid that year. Riding my stingray bike through the mosquito truck fog with my friends, eating Dairy Queen cones, swimming every day in the community Edison Pool. Walking home from the pool,  I’d go to this flower shop where they had candy sticks of many flavors for a nickle, snow cones, real Pepsi, 7-Ups at the neighborhood market hiking back through the old Monon Rail Yard, catching Lightening bugs on Summer nights playing outside till 10pm. Those were the Days. Those were the Days when men were real family men and they did not threaten children because they could not have their guns. Though there were no AR-15’s back then there were machine guns and I recall they were illegal in some areas, back then people respected the law more people minded their own business and did not threaten others over their political views. The good old days when a kid could go to school without the fear of being shot and killed.
