The Community Environmental Council and ChannelKeeper along with the Adams Elementary school Ocean Guardian kids have been asking restaurants in Santa Barbara to “Skip the Straw” to help the environment. Many restaurants in the waterfront and on the Mesa have agreed to offer a straw on request now. Reusable straws are also being sold locally.

they can’t clean your silverware, you expect sanitized aluminum tubes to suck through. One loose bit of food particle with your drink will make you go back to plastic- yuck
even better. I look forward to carrying my own straw around- why stop there. Maybe we should bring our own cup too.

Plastic is such a huge problem for our oceans. Why is it such a big deal to do something small that can help in such a big way? It requires little to no effort on our part to just not use a straw all the time
