131 E. Canon Perdido (site of the restored El Presidio) was home to the Buddhist Church of Santa Barbara. To honor the imperialistic Spanish Empire, the historic Buddhist Church was demolished to allow for the construction of the fake Presidio. I also remember the Hing Yuen Market at 138 E. Canon Perdido back in the 1960s.
Spot on, Flicka!
I think “down voting” should be done by the dedicated staff when they think something is irrelevant. Seems any yahoo can eliminate a comment for no conceivable reason except they don’t like the poster or simply want to be unpleasant. Here’s another one for them!
I think they(the staff) like it better this way…I thought it was funny that people were disagreeing on where Chinatown was..
I like the The Fake Presidio, beautiful pnoto of it.
Go imperialism!
Fake Presidio? Does that go with Trump’s “fake news”. If you don’t like something it’s “fake”? No one claims it is the original, just a reproduction.
