This is just the tip of the iceberg. The homeless situation is getting worse. State Street is filthy. Haley has drunks and homeless passed out or sleeping on the sidewalk most days and nights. Some are pushing carts all over town and sleeping under stairs, on benches, on the sidewalks and in the parks. The there are the homeless men urinating on sidewalks, benches on State Street, in parking lots, and a “couple” was fornicating on the sidewalk off of the Santa Barbara Street exit of Smart & Final 2 weeks ago! I hate going Downtown. Who wants to see this!? And what is the City and County doing!? Giving the shelters more money every year. We should help people who want help to get back on their feet and show the rest the door.
Yeah, cause it’s the homeless who are causing 99% of the stabbings and assaults in this area.
The “homeless”, bums, urban campers, drug addicts, alcoholics- whatever you want to call them are, for the most part transients that are NOT from our County, let alone our State- They are here for the weather, liberal standards with regard to laws and enforcing laws and all the free social welfare programs that the City, County and Homeless Inc. provide… There are probably 1000 people within the County who are on the payrolls and pension programs that DEPEND on the “homeless” to be here… Those workers WANT and ENCOURAGE them to stay or they would be out of a job or have to move to more affordable social welfare areas like Bakersfield, Fresno, et al- where rents are CHEAP as is the cost of living…
