Can you identify me?
The male subject in these photos entered Hotel Milo in Santa Barbara, CA on June 17th, 2018 and stole the Macbook laptop from the lobby by cutting the attached security cord. Please contact Detective April DeBlauw if you can identify the male or have any related information.

It would be nice if the police were cognizant of their role as investigators rather than trying to be judge and jury. A simple “allegedly” stole the computer would be the responsible language. These SBPD videos are becoming more like vigilantism recently.
I’d bet that if you saw more of the security video you might lean towards more than ostensible.
Perhaps the camera caught the man cutting the cord and walking away with the laptop. It wouldn’t really be “allegedly” then, but a fact.
Exactly Flicka, that’s what I was alluding to below which KEYT ( a great news source for reporting local crime ) stated was in fact the case… so yes, a fact, not putative.
