Come one, come all to “Libation: A Summertime Soiree,” a festive 1920s-style shindig and fundraiser for educational at the Dunes Center, an educational museum located in the Santa Maria Valley.
Toe-tapping melodies performed by The Tipsy Gypsies, will entertain Dunes Center supporters, community VIP’s, and local elected officials at the center’s annual event. Attendees will enjoy 1920s-themed craft cocktails and other libations from local breweries, distilleries and wineries. Guests will also enjoy hors d’oeuvres by The Far Western Tavern and a live auction to help fund future Dunes Center activities. Tickets may be purchased through www.dunescenter.org.
“This has become Guadalupe’s event of the year. It’s always a great time and our attendees have an opportunity to give back to this organization that gives so much to our community,” said Jules Reuter, Dunes Center Board Vice President.
“We are very excited about this year’s event. Guests will be able to hear some encouraging news about our projects and the future of the center. I personally think this will be an event to remember,” said Doug Jenzen, Dunes Center Executive Director. Volunteers and staff will be on-hand during the event to lead interactive activities relating to the Dunes Center’s exhibits.
“This is a unique opportunity for our Summertime Soiree guests. Being able to get a hands on tour of our exhibits and activities with center staff and our incredible volunteers is something that the general public doesn’t normally have,” added Jenzen.
Exhibits include a large oversized cabinet of curiosities that reflect the colorful mosaic of history and habitats that make up the local dunes will greet visitors as they enter the newly revamped museum. Educational exhibits on sand dunes; flora and fauna; and oversized photographs and information about artifacts left in the dunes after Cecil B. DeMille filmed The Ten Commandments in the area in 1923, are also featured.
