The 7th Annual Gratitude Luncheon, to be held Wednesday, June 6th, 2018 in the Loggia Ballroom at the Four Seasons Biltmore, Santa Barbara and will feature Janet Garufis, CEO and Chairman of Montecito Bank & Trust, as Keynote Speaker. The recipient of numerous leadership awards, including the Santa Barbara Foundation’s Woman of the Year, Ms. Garufis has also been named by American Banker as one of the Most Powerful Women to Watch.
This will be one of the first events to be held at the re-opened Biltmore, which has been closed since the January 9th mud slides. The hotel is due to re-open June 1.
This event is the primary fundraising source for the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse’s long-time Mentor Program, a school-based prevention program encouraging the positive development and education for thousands of students. The program matches kids in need of academic, emotional and social guidance with a trained adult mentor. About 75% of kids in the Mentor Program increase their grade point average and 92% are more resilient to drug and alcohol use.
This year’s Gratitude Luncheon is led by Founder and Chair Anne Smith Towbes. Additionally, CADA Mentor Sally Green will be honored as this year’s outstanding Mentor and presented with the Penny Jenkins Mentor of the Year Award. CADA’s Mentor Program started in 1994 and currently supports nearly 100 mentoring relationships in Santa Barbara County. Proceeds from the Gratitude Luncheon will provide funding to further the successes of this critical program in our community.
