Reflections on the Thomas Fire and Montecito Debris Flow

January 11, 2019 @ 5:30 am PST

Santa Barbara and Ventura County experienced some of the most devastating fire and debris flows in our history last year. As we enter a new year, Antioch University will host a panel of first, second and third responders to discuss what our community can do to better prepare for the next natural disaster.

Two keynote speakers – Rob Lewin, emergency operations director for Santa Barbara County’s Office of Emergency Management, and Emily Barany, founder of Visionality Partners and co-founder of Thomas Fire Help – will reflect on their experiences during these emergencies. Other panelists include Rose Levy, Direct Relief; Christina Kelley, Mission Harbor Behavioral Health; Fernando Moreno, Heavenly Worth Home Health; Anne Wells, City of Goleta; and Stephanie Kaster, Casa Dorinda.

Join us for a meaningful evening that involves both evaluating the recent disasters and a looking toward the future to ask the question, how may we come together as a team to be more prepared?
