The 8th Annual Gratitude Luncheon will be held February 7th, 2019 in the Loggia Room at the Four Seasons Biltmore and will feature Ernesto Paredes as Keynote Speaker. Paredes is a strong believer in the power of mentoring, with a life-time of experience of being mentored and serving as one himself. He was recently named Man of the Year in Santa Barbara and has led a number of extremely successful local non-profits.
This event is the primary fundraising source for the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse’s longtime Mentor Program, a school-based prevention program encouraging the positive development and education for thousands of at-risk students. The program matches kids in need of academic, emotional and social guidance with a trained adult mentor. About 75% of kids in the Mentor Program increase their grade point average and 92% are more resilient to drug and alcohol use.
This year’s Gratitude Luncheon is led by Founder and Chair, Anne Smith Towbes. Additionally, CADA Mentor Jai Ranganathan will be presented with the Penny Jenkins Mentor of the Year Award.
CADA’s Mentor Program started in 1994 and within that time has supported over 3,400 mentoring relationships in Santa Barbara County. Proceeds from the Gratitude Luncheon will provide funding to further the successes of this critical program in our community.
