WHAT: The “Way Back When” Magical History Tour
WHEN: May 15, 11 a.m.
WHERE: Santa Barbara Historical Museum
We’ll time-travel back to the 1918 New Year’s Eve party at the Potter Hotel to look back at the best stories of the year in Santa Barbara with a “magic lantern” slideshow. There were wild storms, the Montecito Country Club and the El Encanto Hotel opened, “Flying A” made movies, the Lockheeds flew planes, sauerkraut became “Liberty Cabbage,” the circus arrived, SB High School photos, a solar eclipse, a car drove into Gibraltar Reservoir, Life Magazine cartoons, the Spanish Flu, Victory Gardens, pelicans made news, and much more. Plus – Remembering the Fallen of WWI.
