Zoo Train rides, climbing wall, animal encounters, and other activities are all included. Food, including gluten-free and vegetarian options, and drinks are available for purchase. As part of the Zoo’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity for all kids, there will be a quiet area with activities for kids who prefer things more mellow, and Sensory Backpacks (including noise- canceling headphones and more) are also available for rent.
“This June marks one year since the Zoo was certified as a Certified Autism Center,” said J.J. McLeod, the Zoo’s Education Manager. “We’re proud to be able to better meet the needs of individuals on the Autism Spectrum and we hope the autism community feels even safer, supported, and welcome at the Zoo and at this party.”
The Santa Barbara Zoo was the first West Coast zoo to receive this certification from the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards.
Partner groups offering games, crafts, and activities include Kyle’s Kitchen, MOXI, UCSB Koegel Autism Center, Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, PathPoint, STAR of California, and others to be announced.

“PAW Patrol” is a hit show on Nick. Jr. that debuted in August 2013. It is now seen in more than 160 countries.
“PAW Patrol” is an animated show featuring rescue dogs in training and each pup is inspired by a real-world job like fire fighter, police officer, pilot, construction worker, and others. They each live in doghouses that transform into customized vehicles, and have “pup pack” backpacks with tools relating to their jobs. “PAW Patrol” not only tells exciting stories about bravery and heroism, it teaches lessons about caring for animals.
Skye is a Cockapoo puppy and fearless helicopter pilot. She also has wings built into her backpack. She’s smart, loyal, and quick with a quip, sometimes gently teasing the bigger dogs who
can’t seem to keep up.
Chase is a German Shephard police pup who drives a cruiser. Athletic, smart, and “by the book” organized, he can herd traffic down the right detour, block off dangerous roads, and solve any
mystery.
