NEGATIVE EMISSIONS & POSITIVE RETURNS? CLIMATE CHANGE & ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY
Climate change affects every sector of the economy. Achieving ‘negative emissions’ is seen as vital to bringing global warming under critical levels. Microsoft has pledged to be carbon negative by 2030, in effect reversing their total historic carbon emissions. A recent rush of capital–from venture and corporate investors to philanthropic organizations–has gone into dedicated climate funds. For many, the goal is to remove—not merely reduce—greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. Forests and soils can naturally remove emissions, while new technologies hold out a similar promise, but some are also worried we may rely on these limited tools at the expense of rapidly cutting emissions. Join us to learn how this sector is shaping up, and hear from some of the people forging this future.
