Calling all Zombies – It’s time to Get Scary for Charity!
Good news for Halloween enthusiasts! World Dance for Humanity is once again hosting its annual THRILLER community dance event at the Courthouse Sunken Gardens – Saturday, October 30th, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
When the Covid shutdown began in 2020, World Dance started offering free daily classes on Zoom to help keep people sane, connected, and in-shape. Last October, they kept the Halloween spirit alive by teaching Thriller and hosting Halloween dance parties online.
This year, the dancers are thrilled to be returning to the Sunken Gardens, with flashmobs around town and Halloween parties leading us to October 30th.
To keep the Sunken Gardens event as safe as possible, the organizers are asking everyone at the event to be vaccinated, keep socially distanced, and incorporate spooky masks into their costumes.
Everyone is welcome to learn Thriller and other Halloween dances with World Dance, in-person and on Zoom. No experience required – Zombies of all ages and abilities are invited to take part and celebrate the season!
World Dance for Humanity has hosted Thriller for 11 years as part of “Thrill the World,” a dance celebration for charity that happens all over the world on the Saturday before Halloween. The Thriller dance performance takes place exactly at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
All the funds raised – from event sponsors and participants – benefit the organization’s Rwanda Education Fund, which is giving 270 Rwandan students a chance to go to school, and Santa Barbara’s Westside Boys & Girls Club where the World Dancers provide after-school tutoring.
