Please join the Capps Center for an evening of insight, provocation, and humor with Patricia Limerick. For several decades, Professor Limerick has been committed to the work of fostering community engagement, persistently transgressing boundaries that isolate universities from their publics. Greg Johnson (Director, Capps Center) will
interview Professor Limerick about the successes, pitfalls, and surprises of her public-oriented work. Issues of relevance to UCSB and the Santa Barbara community will be addressed, including struggles over water and energy resource management, modern
Indian identities, and the well-being of student veterans—topics around which Professor
Limerick has brought diverse groups into dialogue, foregrounding a practice of presence
and ethic of accountability.
