Attention to Loss, A Conversation with Artist Pecos Pryor and Poet Molly Jane Burns

February 12, 2022 @ 2:30 am PST

The Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara is pleased to present Attention to Loss, A Conversation with Artist Pecos Pryor and Poet Molly Jane Burns. Debra Herrick, editor of Lum Art Magazine, will moderate.

The talk is held in conjunction with the Architectural Foundation Gallery’s current exhibition, Attention to Loss, a solo show of artwork that Pryor created during a time of deep grief losing a family member to suicide, a family member to drug overdose, and going through a divorce. The exhibition includes drawings, printmaking, and sculpture. The exhibition is on view through March 5.

Similarly, Burns lost her sister, brother, sister-in-law and a longtime friend to cancer between 2005 – 2007 and writing poetry gave her an outlet to greet her grief.

During the talk, Pryor and Burns will discuss how experiences of grieving have impacted their artistic practice, unpacking the question, What do we do with our hands in grief?

Attention to Loss, A Conversation will take place outdoors on the patio behind the historical Acheson House located at 229 E. Victoria St. in Santa Barbara.

Because seating is limited, reservations are required and can be made by contacting Molly Burns at 805.965.6307 or molly@afsb.org. Social distancing and masks are required.
