An Evening with Appraiser Elizabeth Stewart, Ph.D. “How To See, Not Just Look at, Fine Art”

Elizabeth Stewart is offering this special evening on how to really see and not just look at fine art. She’ll discuss the seven elements of art with illustrations: Shape, form, texture, space, value, color and line. She’ll also divulge her top five tricks for determining quality, with illustrations from her forensic examination of a great painting. The work of art she’ll use shows flow, relationships, artistic integrity, clarity, brushwork, light source and chiaroscuro, movement, and message.
Glenn Novack will choose art currently on sale at Miss Daisy’s Consignment and Auction House for Elizabeth to use. The choices will show original art as well as different types of printing, lithography, and more.

Stewart is a certified appraiser, author of five books and host of Art & Antiques Radio Show. This is the second of three planned programs with her.
Novack, owner of the largest consignment store in the tri-counties, will host/introduce the program. He’ll also talk about how you can utilize Miss Daisy’s and about Consign For a Cause. This clever program is how a non-profit can, by inviting its supporters to think about donating valuable items thereby creating a new revenue stream. Novack pre-approves every item on the floor, which gives his collection a different shine.

Store hours will be extended for guests to wander among all the lovely furnishings, lighting, artwork, rugs and more. (Usual closing time is 5pm). Louis John’s high-end fashion boutique will also be open for this special event.

Thursday, October 20 when the topic will be on Fashion using items from Louis John’s Boutique in a runway style show, modeled for the discriminating woman and man. Louis John will join Elizabeth on stage for this event.
