During the fall breeding season, male tarantulas leave their deep burrows slowly crawling across roads and trails looking for love. We invite you to learn about the common California tarantula’s habitat, courting, prey, and predators in a fun and interactive setting.
WHAT:
The team at Wild Farmlands on Restoration Oaks Ranch will lead our group on an easy 1.5 mile walk in search of these docile spiders. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes – the trail is on level but uneven ground. We will catch a spider, discuss it, let it crawl on our hands (for those brave enough), and release it back into the wild.
The tour will begin promptly at 4:00pm, but please arrive at 3:30pm to enjoy some snacks and Halloween candy beforehand.
