illuminate Speaker Series Presents Richard Louv

October 19, 2022 @ 6:00 am PDT

Join Hospice of Santa Barbara’s illuminate Speaker Series for Richard Louv, who will present “VITAMIN N” AND THE NEW NATURE MOVEMENT on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm PDT.

Richard Louv’s books, including Last Child in the Woods, The Nature Principle, Our Wild Calling, and Vitamin N, have helped create an international movement to connect children to the natural world; this new nature movement has grown to include adults. Outside magazine reports that Louv’s work is “widely credited with helping spark an international movement to examine the therapeutic benefits of time spent outside. That movement is nearly ubiquitous today. New scientific papers revealing the power of wild places to counteract anxiety, stress, depression, ADHD, and even PTSD seem to make headlines every week.” Louv’s ongoing efforts have encouraged new, biophilic designs for schools, homes, workplaces, and facilities for aging. Over 1,000 studies now show how our connection to nature enhances our physical, mental, and spiritual health, from childhood until the end of life.
