John Primer, former guitarist in the bands of legendary bluesmen Muddy Waters and Magic Slim, has won two Blues Music Awards given by the Blues Foundation and has garnered two Grammy nominations. He is known not only for his tasteful lead guitar licks, but also for his slide guitar technique.
Bob Corritore is one of the top Blues harmonica players in the U.S. and has won numerous awards. Along with his heavily coiffed pompadour, he wears many hats: he owns Blues club The Rhythm Room, is radio show host of “Those Lowdown Blues” on KJZZ, is founder of Southwest Musical Arts Foundation, endorsed by Hohner harmonicas, is a Keeping The Blues Alive award recipient, and a Grammy nominated harmonica player.
Primer and Corritore have recorded three albums and played numerous shows together. Accolades continue to pour forth for the both of them including being nominated for this year’s best Traditional Blues Album on the Blue Blast Magazine ballot. Their previous two shows for the Santa Barbara Blues Society have received enthusiastic receptions by large crowds. Primer and Corritore will be accompanied by Rick Reed on bass and Dave Kida on drums.
Performing an acoustic opening set is Santa Barbara native Cameron Nichoson. He is founder and guitarist of local Blues band East Valley Road, and has shared the stage with prominent Blues musicians Bob Margolin, Bob Corritore, Sugaray Rayford, and Alastair Greene. He led his band at the 2018 International Blues Challenge Showcase in Memphis, TN, and was featured in “Big City Rhythm and Blues Magazine” as one of the top young up-and-coming Blues guitar players in the country.
