Once again the congregation of the First United Methodist Church of Santa Barbara will bestow its beautiful Seasonal gift to the community by staging a silent re-creation of the Holy Night. Under a redwood tree and adjacent to the church, a grassy area is transformed into a humble wooden stable, complete with a serene Mary, Joseph and tiny baby Jesus asleep in the manger. Live camels, sheep, donkeys and goats surround the manger taking in the wonder of it all.
At once solemn and festive, this multigenerational event draws families back year after year – it’s free! The historic sanctuary will be open, with seasonal music softly playing. A display of creches from around the globe adorning the communion rail will be on view. Complimentary cider and cookies will be served.
Tues, Wed, Thursday December 20, 21, 22 from 5:30 to 7:30pm.
